1994 NALF REUNIONFUN IN FLORIDA !!!To those who weren't there, we missed you! To those who were here, wasn't it great fun? The hotel accommodations were fabulous once you figured out which Ramada!). Close proximity to many attractions was one reason this sight was chosen and thankfully, the weather cooperated. The weekend began with the usual Friday registration and evening meeting which were as always a little hectic but a great time to see all of our old friends. Remember if you couldn't make it to the reunion, please pay this years' dues by mail. Saturday's meeting was followed by the group picture which this year took place by the pool. Be sure next year to stay far away from Julian if you don't want to get wet! If you weren't able to attend and would like to buy picture of your cousins, they are available in the standard form from Marty Unger or from the hotel photographer in postcard format. Saturday events ranged from lounging by the spectacular three pools to visiting Orlando attractions. The Lively entertainment at Saturday's meeting was as always full of laughter and tales. Saturday night's auction was a treat. Our first live auction for the children was a huge success. Who had more fun - - the children or the adults watching (nervously holding their wallets)? The children learned quickly how to bid for their favorite items. Sunday morning breakfast brought in a new slate of officers and next year's reunion location. Once again, a successful Lively reunion! |

REUNION NOTESThe 58th annual NALF reunion was held at the spacious Ramada Resort-Maingate, Kissimmee, FL with 123 Livelys attending : ten were new Livelys and 40 were GA Livelys . A BIG WELCOME TO THE NEWCOMERS. We missed the many Livelys who were not wlth us this year and look forward to hearing from them. Our Oldest Lively attending was Blanche Lively Noble of Richmond, VA, and the youngest was 19 month old Taylor Lively of Hephzibah, GA son of the Doug Livelys . Registration began on Friday at 12:00 noon with Sheri Payne, Julie Byerly and Cidna Unger at the registration desk. The first official NALF meeting was called to order by our president James C. Lively on Friday evening at 8 o'clock. The Lively children gave the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Opening Song. Cidna Unger gave a great welcome and told of some of the attractions in the vicinity. Minutes of the 1993 reunion were read by the Assistant Secretary, Carolyn Lively, followed by report of the Youth V-P Martin Unger III; Historian, Eileen Prewitt; and Genealogist, Betty Lively Doffermeyer. Betty reported she is still receiving Lively genealogy data and she urged the Livelys to help get data sheets to their relatives in order for any new or unprinted Lively data to be sent to her; the Secy-Treas. report was given by Bobbie Unger and approved as given. At the conclusion of the business meeting a memorial service was conducted by Julia Baughan with a red rose presented to the family of deceased family members since the previous reunion. The Saturday morning meeting began at 9am with the president appointing the following committees: Resolutions - Gloria Eberhart and Virginia Etheredge; Audit - John Lively and Scott Bedsole, Reunion location Bobby Waldrop, Marty Unger and Leo Roberts; Nominating - Katy Waldrop. An Entertainment Committee was established with Tom Lively, Teresa Lively Pick, and Bill Lively. At the conclusion of the business meeting the group picture was made by our own patient photographer, Martin Unger. Martin Unger III held a short youth meeting to make plans for the evening. After the group picture the Livelys were free to visit the attraction of their choice. There were not enough hours in the day to see and do all the things available to us. On Saturday evening we again gathered for our Lively Family Entertainment and auction. Tom Lively chaired our entertainment with much help from the Lively group. There was much talent displayed from story telling to line dancing. The auction was a special time with our family auctioneers, Julian and James Lively, and a very special part of the auction this year was the children's auction. The auction items included handmade jewelry, canned produce, hand carved duck, quilts, crocheted throws, and other lovely articles. Real talent was displayed in the auction items. A special thanks to all of those who made items and those who bid on them. Guy Lively of Ohio brought along several T-shirts that he had someone make for him - with a Lively Coat of arms crest that he located while stationed in Germany. The coat of arms was bestowed upon Reverend Robert Alexander Lively in 1491. More about this coat of arms in newsletter later. On Sunday August 7 our closing Sunday morning buffet breakfast was plentiful and most attractive. After our meal the President, James C. Lively called the meeting to order and asked for the committee reports . The resolutions were read by Gloria Eberhart; Audit report given by John Lively - he reported that he and Scott found the books to be in order; Reunion location committee reported that invitations were received for the group to come to the following locations for the 1995 Lively reunion;| Beckley, WV, Charlotte, NC, Columbus, OH, Daytona Beach, FL and Denver, CO. The clan voted to go to Denver with Don Lively and family as hosts. Guy Lively indicated that the invitation to Columbus, OH would also be extended for the 1996 reunion. Nominating Committee report given by Katy Waldrop - in which she reported that John A. Lively had agreed to serve as NALF president and the other officers would serve another term.
